From websites to your neighbor who seems to know everything, there are a lot of ways to get information about which new cars are the best. None are quite as reliable and trusted as J.D. Power, though. This year, the 2017 Nissan Altima and the 2017 Nissan Murano came out on top of their respective categories, winning Nissan J.D. Power Awards in two separate categories
The 2017 Altima beat out the competition in the hugely crowded midsize car category in J.D. Power’s Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study. As one of the most popular car categories, the midsize segment presents some stiff competition, including the Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, and a long list of others.
In the midsize SUV category, the 2017 Nissan Murano won the title of most appealing vehicle—no small feat in a category that includes such vehicles as the Subaru Outback, Jeep Wrangler, and Hyundai Santa Fe.
Now in its 22nd year, the APEAL study uses actual driver evaluations to determine its most highly recommended vehicles each year. In the end, only one car can be crowned king in each category, and this year, the king was Nissan.
