Next week marks the beginning of the 2014 Geneva Motor Show across the pond in Geneva, Switzerland. This year will be the 84th for the motor show. So what can we expect to see from Nissan in Geneva? Quite a bit.
The all-new X-Trail, while not offered here in the States, is an extraordinary crossover with advanced 4×4 capabilities. This year, the X-Trail brings with it the Nissan Safety Shield, bi-LED headlamps, and NissanConnect navigation and infotainment system, in its third generation. Also notable for the X-Trail model is the “theater-style” seating layout.
The BladeGlider Concept
The BladeGlider will also be making its European debut at Geneva. We first saw the BladeGlider last year and immediately fell in love with its design. In fact, its front-track design was meant to mirror stealth planes in its aerodynamics and sleekness.
Nissan’s press release claims that the Qashqai will be responsible for “ushering in a new era in crossover design,” and we have to agree. The Qashqai, while hard to pronounce, is innovative as it brings a number of sector-first technologies to the table. These include the NissanConnect system with full smartphone integration and the Nissan Safety Shield.
The zero-emissions e-NV200 will also make its production premiere in Geneva, combining elements from the NV200 and the Nissan LEAF. According to Nissan, the e-NV200 is “ready to change the face of the city.”
The GT-R NISMO
Geneva marks the European debut of the production version of the GT-R NISMO. This baby is the fastest and most advanced Nissan performance model ever produced. Powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6, the GT-R NISMO most definitely “embodies the spirit of the NISMO brand.”
