Spring is in full bloom and summer is just around the corner, so why not take your Nissan on a road trip and enjoy nature’s beauty at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia? Although residents and visitors tend to visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden, you shouldn’t miss this hidden gem.
The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is located on a 313-acre preserve and is part of the University of Georgia. Fortunately, the State Botanical Garden of Georgia is free and open to the public, making it a lovely and affordable experience that the whole family can enjoy. The Flower Garden features rare and exotic flowers, while the Heritage Garden evokes the early gardens of the American South. The Shade and Native Flora Gardens flourish in the spring, when the azaleas and magnolias are in full bloom.
Along with enjoying the beautiful gardens, you’ll be able to enjoy the preserve’s various trails and nature areas. The Hummingbird Trail is open May 1 to early October annually and features 21 markers denoting where hummingbirds often stop, and seven other color-marked trails offer a range of views of the gardens.
The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is open Sunday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., so pile your family into your Nissan and head there while it’s still spring.
