The redesigned Nissan Maxima has a backstory fit for a Hollywood underdog story. Just four years ago, the brand considered axing the nameplate altogether. Now, however, a redesigned version of the sports sedan is hitting the market with an elegant new style, great performance, and huge sales expectations. With all the extra performance features, bells, and whistles added to the Maxima, it’s a safe bet that it will deliver on those expectations as well.
The 2016 Maxima comes in five different trims, all of which are driven by the 3.5-liter V6 engine. That engine gets 300 hp and is matched with a CVT transmission to give it better handling and performance overall. The trims go from the entry S model to the SV, SL, SR, and the top-of-the-line Maxima Platinum model.
The Maxima’s new exterior is also very impressive, showing off a sleeker, low-slung design with a smiling, aggressive front end. There are plenty of fun features inside the cabin, too, including remote-start capability and an 8-inch infotainment screen. “When I look at this car, I’m proudest of the fact that it’s here at all,” said Takeshi Yamaguchi, Nissan North America’s vice president for vehicle engineering and vehicle program management for the new Maxima. “And on top of that, I’m proud of that fact that we took the Maxima beyond where it was, instead of taking it backward.”
Here at Cronic Nissan, we feel the same way. Come see us to learn more about the Maxima, which should be hitting our inventory this June!
