At the Texas State Fair this year, Nissan initiated a Twitter campaign to amp up anticipation for the arrival of the new Nissan Titan. Hashtag? #CumminsSoon. No, that’s not a misspelling. The new Titan will come boasting a 5.0L turbodiesel Cummins V8.
This is big news. Not surprisingly, it has produced very high but very appropriate levels of fuss and bustle. This is because, as Truck Trend put it, “the next-generation Titan will be available with the truck industry’s only light-duty diesel V8.” If the Titan wasn’t already in a class all its own, it will be now.
Nissan hasn’t divulged many details yet, but that didn’t stop Truck Trend from speculating. As far as numbers are concerned, they say we might expect around 300 horsepower and 500 lb-ft. of torque. The torque is what would make the Titan stand out in particular. With the Cummins diesel motor, it would be “far higher than any other engine in the ½ ton class.”
